Wellcome: updated funding approach and strategy

Improving health through the best research maps out their intentions over the next five years under four pillars:

• creating knowledge
• strengthening research capacity
• using knowledge effectively
• promoting an environment in which research can flourish.

The updated strategy follows on from Wellcome Director Jeremy Farrar's announcement of a new funding approach for Wellcome, involving Primary and Reserve Funds, that aims to protect core support for science and research against market volatility.
