UCL has a wide portfolio of hardware and software in development and clinical translation as medical devices to enhance patient diagnosis and treatment. Utilising the expertise and infrastructure of its Wellcome / EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS), UCL academic and clinical researchers are supported in the strategic and regulatory-compliant design, development, evaluation and commercialisation of innovative medical devices.
Working closely with industry and partner NHS Trusts, UCL has medical devices in fields including disease diagnosis and patient stratification, medical imaging and sensing, data fusion and extraction, human-technology interfaces, patient-therapist interaction, tissue modelling, interventional instrumentation and surgical navigation.
Our multidisciplinary Devices Therapeutic Innovation Network has established internal procedures and capabilities (e.g. Quality Management System for in-house development) to support the development, manufacture and distribution of software, associated hardware, as well as standalone and combined medical devices.
