Our UCL Student Funding Advice Team cover commonly asked questions, such as:

  • What types of student funding you may be eligible to receive
  • What funding schemes are available from UCL
  • How to budget and manage your money
  • Which student discounts you can receive to save you money
  • How to spot and avoid scams.

Aimed at both current and prospective students, the video answers common student funding queries, including providing a detailed breakdown of the two main types of funding for tuition fees and maintenance costs. Students are provided with real examples of what type of funds they would be entitled to depending on their family circumstances and household income.

UCL also offers a range of different funding schemes, including bursaries and scholarships for eligible students. This includes the UCL Undergraduate Bursary, where students with a household income below £42,875 are awarded a monetary award automatically. Naomi provides a detailed explanation of what award schemes are open to students, and how they can apply.

In addition to income, Naomi stresses the need for students to budget their money wisely, and provides an example of what a student can expect to spend during an average month. She also gives tips on how students can save money through discounts schemes, for things like travel, food and events.

Finally, the team also know students can be vulnerable to scammers and fraudulent schemes, particularly new students, and international students arriving in the UK for the first time. Naomi uses the video to explain common scams students may encounter, and ways students can protect themselves and their finances.

Please do share this video with students.
