Musubi Global Master's Scholarship

Building on more than 160 years of rich relations, the UCL Musubi Global Masters Scholarship will give Japanese students the opportunity to study a one-year Masters programme.

Eligibility

Candidates must fulfil all of the following criteria:

  • be eligible to pay the Overseas fee rate;
  • be a resident of Japan;
  • AND have submitted a complete admission application (including the submission of references) for a full-time one-year Master's degree at UCL in 2026/27.  Please note: Distance-learning options are not eligible for this fund; students must be coming to the UK to attend UCL in person. 

Value, benefits, and duration

  • There is 1 (one) scholarship available in 2026/27 .
  • The value of the scholarship is £20,250*.
  • The scholarship is tenable for one year only.
  • The UCL Musubi Global Masters Scholarship may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards, or bursaries depending on the total value of other funds received by the student.
  • Scholarship recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the UCL Musubi Global Masters Scholarship being awarded.
  • The scholarship will first be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees, with any remainder payable to the recipient in three equal instalments, throughout the academic year, towards maintenance.

* made up of a £15,000 Global Master's scholarship, and £5,250 of funding from the donor.


Selection

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and upon the recommendation of the Student Funding Office.

Results

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted mid May to provide evidence of financial need. When this has been assessed, successful candidates will typically be informed by late June.
