Offered in conjunction with the Amjad and Suha Bseisu Foundation, this award aims to assist students from Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine or Syria to study specific Master's programmes at UCL.
Eligibility
Candidates must fulfil all of the following criteria:
- be a refugee from, or domiciled in, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine or Syria
- be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship;
AND have submitted an admission application for a full-time one-year Master's degree in one of the following programmes at UCL for 2026/27:
Value, benefits, and duration
- There is 1 (one) scholarship available in 2026/27.
- The value of the scholarship is £65,780.
- The scholarship is tenable for one year only and for the listed one-year programmes only.
- Scholarship recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the Bseisu-UCL Scholarship award.
- The scholarship will first be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees, with any remainder payable to the recipient in three equal instalments throughout the academic year towards maintenance.
Selection
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and upon the recommendation of the Student Funding Office, with a first preference being for an applicant holding refugee status.

You will be considered for all awards listed under the International Master's Awards form, so could get an offer for an award other than the Bseisu Scholarship if you are not selected for that specific funding.
The deadline for applications to this scholarship will be at 5pm BST, Thursday 7 May 2026.
Fee Deposit Information
If you have applied for funding and are eligible for consideration for a full scholarship (fees plus stipend), you may receive an extension to the fee deposit payment date. For this award, the Student Funding Office will advise Admissions of the eligible applicants by 1 April 2026. If you submit your Humanitarian Scholarship application via the International Master's Awards form after that date, please get in touch with us directly so we can advise Admissions of your application.
If your funding application for a full scholarship is successful, your fee deposit requirement can be waived. For awards administered by the Student Funding Office (Humanitarian Scholarship), we will advise Admissions of your award and request the waiver.
Results
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted mid May to provide evidence of financial need. When this has been assessed, successful candidates will typically be informed by late June.
