This instructor-led course is designed for staff involved in the transport of dangerous goods, providing awareness of the regulatory frameworks and correct procedures.Understanding dangerous goods transport is crucial for safety and compliance.

This course will help you:

  • Understand your responsibilities.
  • Understand the legislative frameworks: UN, ADR, IMDG, ICAO/IATA, and UK Road Regulations.
  • Recognise overt and hidden dangerous goods (e.g. clinical trial samples, chemicals and other items).
  • Gain an awareness of classes, UN numbers, proper shipping names, and packaging requirements (UN specification, limited/excepted quantities).
  • Understand the importance of package labelling and an overview of Dangerous Goods Notes and Shipper's Declarations.
  • Learn about the role of the Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor and where to find key information.
  • Understand procedures for handling and reporting incidents.

    All safety instructor-led training courses are delivered by our team of safety experts.

    Objectives


    By the end of this course you will have gained an understanding of:

    • Why transport is highly regulated
    • Why transport is not permitted on private vehicles and public transport
    • How to recognise dangerous goods in packages
    • What to expect when dangerous goods are delivered
    • Your responsibilities and restrictions under all the relevant regulations
    • The role of the UCL DGSA

      Target audience

      Any staff member whose role involves the transport of dangerous goods, directly or indirectly.

      Cost


      Training courses are free to UCL staff however your Department may be charged £50 if you fail to attend when booked on a course.
