Course description
This instructor-led course is compulsory for anyone who wants to work with unsealed radioactive material at UCL. It will provide you with a basic understanding of how to work safely with unsealed radioactive material at UCL.
Prerequisites
You must complete the Principles of Radiation Safety eLearning module before you can enrol on this course. You will need to apply knowledge from the prerequisite eLearning so it may be beneficial to refresh the Principles of Radiation Safety eLearning if there is a long gap between completing it and attending this training course. This will ensure that you feel comfortable and confident with the subject matter.
All safety instructor-led training courses are delivered by our team of safety experts.
Objectives
The course covers the following topics.
- Radiation risks.
- Contamination monitoring.
- Identify the hazards associated with manual handling.
- Protection.
- Good laboratory practice.
- Dealing with incidents and emergencies.
Target audience
Compulsory training for anyone who wants to work with unsealed radioactive material.
Cost
Training courses are free to UCL staff however your Department will be charged £50 if you fail to attend when booked on a course. Non-attendance at first aid courses will incur a higher non-attendance fee.
