Safe use of fire extinguishers training

This extremely practical course will provide designated Fire Evacuation Marshals with experience of using fire extinguishers safely and effectively.

Course description


This extremely practical course will provide designated Fire Evacuation Marshals with experience of using fire extinguishers safely and effectively.

This instructor-led course involves handling and using fire extinguishers in an open space. Please ensure that you wear suitable clothing i.e. closed, low or flat-heeled shoes and non-flowing garments which are suitable for the weather conditions on the day.

All safety instructor-led training courses are delivered by our team of safety experts.

Objectives


By the end of the workshop you will have:

  • Revised the immediate actions on discovering a fire
  • Revised your knowledge of the causes of fire
  • Gained knowledge of the principles of combustion
  • Identified the classes of fires for extinguishing purposes
  • The ability to select and use the correct fire extinguisher for the type of fire to be fought
  • Gained knowledge of the safety precautions when using fire extinguishers

Target audience


Fire Evacuation Marshals or people who have been designated to use a fire extinguisher.

Cost


Training courses are free to UCL staff however your Department will be charged £50 if you fail to attend when booked on a course.  Non-attendance at first aid courses will incur a higher non-attendance fee.

Places to external delegates are only offered if there is spare capacity on an instructor-led course.
