Radiation protection supervisors (unsealed radioactive sources) training
This instructor-led course is for UCL appointed Departmental Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS).
Course description
This instructor-led course provides Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPSs) with the necessary knowledge of the principles of radiation protection, procedures for safe working, applicable legislation and the implementation of UCL local rules to enable them to supervise the safe use of ionising radiations in their departments.
All safety instructor-led training courses are delivered by our team of safety experts.
Objectives
This training course will provide Department Radiation Protection Supervisors with the following information.
- The nature of ionising radiation and its interaction with tissues
- Radiation quantities
- Basic legal requirements - Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017
- Relevant measurement and monitoring techniques
- Principles of practical radiation protection
- Departmental knowledge, i.e. local rules which include waste management and disposal
- Contingency planning

UCL appointed Departmental Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS).
Cost
Training courses are free to UCL staff however your Department will be charged £50 if you fail to attend when booked on a course. Non-attendance at first aid courses will incur a higher non-attendance fee.
