At UCL, we are committed to a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety. As part of this commitment, we share the key learnings from incidents to enhance workplace safety and prevent future occurrences.

Following the incident, Safety Services conducted a full investigation to identify the root causes and immediately implemented action plans for the improvement of safety within all wet labs.

Action to be taken

Organisational learning is a key aspect of health and safety management therefore we would like to share the findings of our investigation with the UCL community.

The report and associated recommendations can be accessed by UCL Staff only.

We recommend you review these and the status within your own departments so that further incidents of this nature can be prevented and learning from this incident can take place throughout the university.
