X-ray generating machines that require registration include XRD and XRF, SEM and TEM, including SEM desktop units, C-arms and O-arms, Dexa scanners and postal X-rays.

Purchasing new X-ray equipment

It is important that you obtain approval from Safety Services before you purchase X-ray equipment to ensure that:

• There is appropriate space for the equipment including shielding requirements.
• Arrangements are in place for the critical examination and in-use testing and maintenance prior to delivery.
