IRDR Enterprise

Our mission is to make a positive and significant impact to reduce risk and the impact of disasters around the world. We are passionate about bridging the gap between academia and practice.

The IRDR champions risk across UCL. We have brought together 19 UCL institutes and departments to undertake research to promote risk and disaster reduction. We also actively work with private and public organisations.  Our approach to enterprise includes:

  • Developing partnerships
  • Undertaking consultancy independently and in partnership with others
  • Securing sponsorship for events and research
  • Delivering CPD

We would be delighted to discuss these opportunities in more detail with you.

Sponsorship and Philanthropy

We're keen to ensure that our work is impactful. Opportunities for you to support our mission include:

  • Event sponsorship
  • Post-graduate scholarships
  • Research sponsorship
  • Mentoring, work experience and internships

Continuing Professional Development

We are developing a programme of continuing professional development courses particularly for the international audience as part of UCL's commitment to Lifelong Learning.

We are also able to develop and deliver bespoke training on specific topics for your organisation.

CPD case study - World Bank - Disaster Risk Assessment

We developed bespoke professional training for a one-week programme in Disaster Risk Assessment with Ambiental, delivered to the World Bank in Washington DC. It was given by a multi-disciplinary team of natural scientists, practitioners and industry specialists. The IRDR led on natural hazards, exposure, vulnerability, challenges of rare events and communication in disaster risk reduction.
