Sarah Jeal – UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction
We open our career-focused IRDR Enterprise Workshop series with a chance to meet IRDR alumni who work in DRR and resilience in the public sector. Aimed at postgraduate students, the events in this series are an essential complement to our academic programmes and aim to enable students to identify their career goals and get best prepared to achieve them.
In this online workshop, you'll meet our panel of IRDR alumni will talk about their roles and some of the challenges (and benefits!) they have experienced working in the public sector. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and find out more about the panel's career journeys since leaving the IRDR. All our panel members studied on the Disaster, Risk and Resilience MSc.
This is a great opportunity to connect with practitioners in the sector and develop their professional networks, and we welcome students from across UCL, as well as attendees from outside the university.
The panel includes:
- Kirsty Johnson, Senior Policy Advisor at the UK Cabinet Office
- Kristen Krystowski, Mission Assignment Manager, FEMA, USA
- Martin Demaria, Disaster Risk Analysis Director, Undersecretariat of Risk Management and Civil Protection - National Ministry of Security, Argentina
