Careers Guidance and Advice
Guidance interviews give you the opportunity to discuss your particular set of circumstances with a careers adviser. You may need practical help with an application form or more general help in order to clarify the direction you want your career to take. All discussions are confidential and can be useful both to those who wish to remain within academia and those who want to move into other employment areas. All appointments are with one of our specialist careers advisers for research staff (profiles available in the 'people' section of this site.)
Availability and how to book:
30 minute appointments for research staff are scheduled weekly in the following slots: Mondays between 2pm and 4.30pm or Wednesdays between 10am and 12pm.
They can be booked in advance by phone: 020 7866 3600, by email (giving details of your availability and a contact number), in person or simply drop in to the Careers Service on the day and wait for the next free slot (subject to availability). PLEASE NOTE: When booking, you will need to provide your Employee Number (which can be found on your pay slip) and state that you are Research Staff.
Hour long appointments can be booked at a time mutually convenient to you and the adviser on any weekday except Friday. Prior to booking the appointment we ask you to fill in a careers discussion form so that the adviser can get a basic understanding of your query and situation. The form can be collected in person or, if you are unable to come to the Careers Service, please click here to download an electronic version of the form. Send the completed form back to us by email or post and we will contact you to arrange an appointment.
If you are unsure whether you need a full hour long appointment, drop in for a 30 minute slot first.
