UCL Research
Our academics have breadth and depth of expertise across the entire range of academic disciplines. Individually, they expand our understanding of the world; collectively and collaboratively, they deliver analysis that addresses the major challenges facing humanity. The Office of the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement) is responsible for setting the strategic direction for UCL’s research activity, and developing the conditions that enable our world-leading researchers to thrive and innovate.
We are responsible for coordinating UCL’s response to the Research Excellence Framework (REF), ensuring that research complies with our research ethics and integrity guidance, and coordinating large-scale funding bids through our research coordination teams. Through the UCL Doctoral School we ensure that the quality of research training at UCL is at the highest possible standard, and our Research Impact team works to enable researchers to maximise the impact of their work. We are also responsible for a number of cross-institutional initiatives to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, including the UCL Grand Challenges and Research Domains, and facilitating academic collaboration with policymakers through the UCL Public Policy programme.
This site gives an overview of how we aim to facilitate and enable research at UCL, our programmes and initiatives, and the role of Professor Geraint Rees, UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement), and how we support UCL's 6,000 research staff.
