Stand with Hope Campaign

In 2019, UCL Research, Innovation & Global Engagement (RIGE) (then the Office of the Vice-Provost for Research) was selected to host ‘Hope the Lego Suffragette’ from the House of Commons.

About Hope

Hope was built in 2018 for UK Parliament to help tell the story of women’s suffrage. The public were asked to #NameOurSister, and they chose Hope. Hope is touring the UK ahead of the centenary of the 1928 Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act which granted equal voting rights to all women and men.

Hope was on display in the UCL Student Centre foyer from 7 February to 14 March 2022.

About the #StandWithHope campaign

UCL's ‘Stand with Hope’ campaign was created to encourage, enable, and continue conversations on gender equality and intersectional inequities, and to make a space for showcasing the work taking place across the university on inequalities in the UK – including within research, policy, public engagement, central initiatives and the EDI office.

The campaign aims to encourage UCL’s communities to share diverse, untold stories around suffrage and inequalities and what needs to change to create a truly equal society today.
