How UCL research is improving lives in LMICs

Through a collaborative effort by UCL academics, we are collecting impact success stories that show how UCL research is improving the lives of people in low and middle income countries (LMICs). These stories demonstrate the impact of research projects with partnerships in LMICs, from introducing a new approach to research on heritage, history and the humanities to improving access to education and tackling global health issues.

Case studies

i-RESIST

i-RESIST has piloted the development of an advanced and harmonised risk and resilience assessment framework for school infrastructure in Indonesia, subjected to cascading earthquake-tsunami hazards.

Nahrein Network

The Nahrein Network has pioneered a new approach to research on heritage, history and the humanities in Iraq and its neighbours by supporting locally-led, interdisciplinary research on its sustainable economic and/or social benefits.

ORNATE India

The ORNATE India programme tests novel patient screening pathways, validates technologies focusing on AI and biomarkers, and evaluates overall feasibility, compatibility and cost effectiveness, with a view to global translation and reverse innovation.

EVE project

The Evidence for Violence prevention in the Extreme (EVE) Project explores the community, national and global factors that have contributed to higher rates of violence in some parts of the world, through two case studies in the Peruvian Andes and Samoa.
