Update: Changes to UCL Research Domains
In January 2026, UCL Research Domains were retired after nearly two decades of success. This change follows a review by UCL Research, Innovation & Global Engagement and reflects new institutional priorities identified through the Academic Ambition programme, UCL Health Strategy, and refreshed Grand Challenges.
In place of Domains, new Research & Innovation Opportunity Spaces will be introduced to support the development of priority areas of research and innovation strength. These spaces will bring together academic leaders and professional services to set strategic goals, align resources, and strengthen external partnerships. Further details on the new approach and how to engage will be shared later on in the year (2026).
