(4* x FTE)

There are a number of ways to calculate 'research power', such as varying the weightings of research rated 4* ("world-leading") and 3* ("internationally excellent").

According to the measure % of 4* research X FTE we have the following UoAs in the Top 3.

01: Clinical Medicine - including researchers from the UCL Cancer Institute, the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science, the UCL Institute of Child Health, UCL Infection & Immunity, UCL Medical Sciences, UCL Medicine, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, UCL Surgery & Interventional Science and the UCL Institute for Women's Health

(4* x FTE x 3) + (3* x FTE)

There are a number of ways to calculate 'research power', such as varying the weightings of research rated 4* ("world-leading") and 3* ("internationally excellent").

Reflecting the current HEFCE formula for QR, (% of 4* research x FTE x 3) + (% of 3* research x FTE) UCL has the following Top 3 UoAs.

02: Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care - including researchers from the UCL Institute of Child Health and UCL Epidemiology & Public Health

04: Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience - including researchers from the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, the UCL Ear Institute, the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit at UCL, the UCL Institute of Neurology, UCL Psychiatry and UCL Psychology & Language Sciences

Market share

Research Fortnight has calculated 'market share', that is the amount of QR funding that REF2014 results would attract under HEFCE's current formula were all subject areas funded equally (which they are not). On this basis, UCL has a number of UoAs in the Top 3.
