SAVING OURSELVES: From Climate Shocks to Climate Action

12 March 2024 (6.15pm-7.30pm)
Lecture Theatre 106, First Floor, Roberts Building, UCL, Malet Street, London, WC1E 7LE.

We are running out of time. 2023 was one of the most volatile climate years in history, and the mealy outcomes of COP28 make it clear that incremental politics aren't going to save us.  Is there any hope of achieving the systemic changes needed to address climate change before it's too late? In SAVING OURSELVES: From Climate Shocks to Climate Action author Professor Dana R. Fisher charts a realistic path forward for climate action--but only by mobilizing people power to push for the necessary changes. Join Dana Fisher (Director of the Center for Environment, Community, & Equity at American University) as she discusses her three-point agenda for transformative climate action: Build Community, Capitalize on Moral Shocks, and Cultivate Resilience.

  • Host/chair: Dr Ben Abrams, Deputy Director, UCL Sociology Network / Lecturer in Sociology, Department of Education, Practice and Society, IOE, UCL
