What would it be like if we could hug or touch digitally across distance? How might this shape our sense of connection? How might we establish trust or protect our privacy and safety? Digital touch is increasingly being embedded in a range of technologies, from wearable devices (smart watches) and gaming hardware to tactile robots and future immersive virtual technologies. Come along and find out more about how our use of these technologies are profoundly reshaping how we touch in our daily lives, as well as what, whom and when we touch.
Carey Jewitt and Sara Price will be discussing their new book Digital Touch (Polity Press, 2024) and the ways digital touch might impact our relationships and future ways of life.
