About this event
The NeuroAI Committee at UCL is excited to invite you to our very first tutorial/hackathon, which will be held on Monday, May 22nd, from 10am to 6pm at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre (SWC).
The focus of this inaugural event is DeepLabCut, a cutting-edge pose estimation package.Participants will be introduced to DeepLabCut in a morning of tutorial-style lectures lead by a member of the DeepLabCut team from the Mathis lab; this will cover basics such as acquiring good video, installing software, and tracking your first body parts. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to put what you have learnt into practise, working in small groups to analyse combined datasets of neural data and behaviour using Python, DeepLabCut, and simple NeuroAI tools.
The SWC has kindly agreed to provide refreshments and lunch. This hackathon is designed for individuals who:
- Have a keen interest in the convergence of neuroscience and artificial intelligence.
- Want to get started with some practical NeuroAI skills.
- Want to meet other NeuroAI enthusiasts at UCL.To get the most out of this event you will need to have some basic understanding of Python (e.g. ‘pip install’ and running simple functions).
Equally we ask attendees to come to both the morning and afternoon session. As space is limited to around 30 places please use the following link to register: https://tinyurl.com/53ywmkft. We particularly encourage applications from historically under-represented groups.

We look forward to your participation in this exciting learning experience!
