Social Science Plus

Our Social Science Plus scheme offers £10K for UCL social science led cross-disciplinary pilot project that will lay the basis for a future funding application

New eligibility requirement

Only Principal Investigators who are UCL social scientists from the IOE or the Faculty of Social & Historical Sciences (our scheme funders) are eligible to apply.  Co-Investigators / ECRs / Additional Collaborators may be based in any UCL faculty.   Further eligibility requirements are detailed in our call guidance.

  5. Familarise yourself with the key features of our scheme:
    a)  £10,000 for a UCL social science led cross-disciplinary (social science and non-social science) pilot/seed research project that will lay the basis for an external funding application (medium or large) with a strong social science component 

    b)  Only Principal Investigators who are UCL social scientists from the IOE or the Faculty of Social & Historical Sciences (our scheme funders) are eligible to apply.  Co-Investigators / ECRs / Additional Collaborators may be based in any UCL faculty.   Further eligibility requirements are detailed in our call guidance whcih will be available when the next call opens 

    c)  Principal Investigators and Co-investigators must be of post-doctoral standing or above and be employed by UCL during the life of the project

    d)  Applications must be genuinely inter/cross-disciplinary, innovative and research based

    e)  Our scheme is competitive and we usually fund two projects following each call

    f)  To date the scheme has invested over £170K in 17 projects and supported over 50 collaborators across UCL and led to many follow-on projects, publications and networks.  A number of projects have helped UCL researchers secure over £1 million in research funding

    g)  We have received generous funding from IOE and the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences to support our scheme
