The Introduction to Research Funding and Management (formerly Fundamentals of Research Funding Management) is a post-award training course for research support staff and researchers responsible for externally funded research and innovation projects at UCL. It is a great refresher for existing staff, and vital for new starters.
About the course
The Introduction to Research Funding and Management course is split into 4 interactive units:
- Introducing the funder landscape
- Getting started with new awards
- Optimising your research funding
- Managing the unexpected.
On this course you will learn to:
- Describe the importance of good research management
- Identify when an award has been granted and how to get started
- Outline the importance of being familiar with funder requirements
- Determine the best approach to optimising research income and provide reassurance to funders of sound financial management
- Recognise the importance of considering the external perspective
- Raise awareness of complexity and risk factors
- Raise awareness of the importance of active change management
