UKRI COVID-19 Grant Extension Allocation (CoA)
16 July 2021
Update on the funding UCL received to support UKRI projects as part of UKRI’s COVID response
UCL was allocated £10.8m from UKRI in August 2020 which is the equivalent to 6% of our current UKRI portfolio. The CoA was awarded to:
- Mitigate the impact of the pandemic on UKRI-funded projects and ensure grant outcomes continue to be met;
- Protect the talent pipeline of research and technical staff;
- Ensure the current balance of grant funding by protected characteristics and mitigate disadvantages to protected groups incurred through the pandemic.
UCL’s approach to managing the fund was to establish a CoA Governance Group, chaired by Professor David Price Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement) to oversee the distribution of the funding across UCL. The group developed a Governance Plan which was approved by UKRI to ensure the above objectives were met.
UCL has now successfully distributed the fund to approximately 350 nominated vulnerable projects to enable them to successfully complete their original UKRI-funded research projects.
The funding awarded to UKRI PIs must be utilised before 30 September 2021.
If you have received funding and no longer require the full allocation, please notify us asap at email@example.com to enable the funding to be reallocated to one of your UKRI project funded colleagues at UCL.
