Drop-in sessions

Find information about our online drop-in sessions, including when and how to attend.

Starting in January 2024, the Research Ethics Service will host weekly drop-in sessions designed to help resolve queries related to ethics review processes and activities managed by the team. You can also contact the team by email at any time with queries you may have.

Easter update: As UCL is closed over Easter from 5:30pm on Wednesday 27 March 2024, there will not be a drop in session w/c 25 March and 1 April.

When to attend

All staff and research students are welcome to attend these sessions. In the first instance we encourage student researchers to seek advice and guidance from their supervisor or ethics lead within their department. If additional assistance is needed, please register for a drop-in session.

Drop in session can be used to:

  • clarify if your research needs ethics review
  • gain advice on the appropriate level of research ethics review
  • discuss complex ethical aspects of your research and how best to address in your application

If you would like to check on the progress of a current application this is best done by email to ethics@ucl.ac.uk

How to attend

These sessions will be held weekly on Thursdays at 2-3pm and appointments will last approximately 20 minutes. Please register your interest by completing the booking form below. On the form you will be asked to provide a short summary of your research ethics query and your ethics ID number if your query relates to an existing registered application (e.g. how to address feedback). Upon submission of the Qualtrics form, you will receive a 20-minute meeting invitation and the Teams meeting link. Please note, slots are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Students are welcome to forward the appointment to their supervisor if they wish.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, or have any technical issues on the day, please contact: ethics@ucl.ac.uk. This will allow us to reallocate your appointment slot to another researcher. Thank you.
