Bursary

Marie Clay (1926-2007), the founder of Reading Recovery, had a passionate belief in the potential of 'ordinary' teachers to achieve extraordinary things through professional learning.

Marie Clay Professional Learning Fund bursaries

In her honour we established the Marie Clay Professional Learning Fund. This provides annual bursaries to enable Reading Recovery teachers or teacher leaders to attend national or international professional development events.

In 2022-23 MCPLF offered two Reading Recovery professionals a bursary towards the costs of attending the 11th International Reading Recovery Institute in Indianapolis.

Fundraise

Reading Recovery teachers, teacher leaders and even parents already take part in regular fundraising events. You can be as imaginative as you like, whether you run a marathon or shave your head, have a curry night or a summer tea party; whatever your fundraising plans the outcome will be the same, your efforts will make a tangible difference to many children needing our support.

Donate to Marie Clay Professional Learning Fund

We will use your money to ensure that Reading Recovery teachers or teacher leaders can continue their professional development, so that they can offer children struggling with literacy the best chance of catching up with their classmates.
