One Research Associate Position in Risk and Disaster Reduction

The position holder will work with Dr Joanna Faure Walker in the UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction.The project looks to develop an advanced, harmonized and science-based resilience assessment framework for school infrastructure subjected to multiple natural hazards in the Philippines. Specifically, the role advertised is to produce (with the support of the project team and partners) an assessment matrix of the relative appropriateness of schools in the Philippines to function as immediate evacuation sites and/or short-term shelters and hubs. 

Key Requirements

The candidate should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline (We may consider a candidate who is close to finishing their PhD).  The candidate's PhD topic and/or prior experience should demonstrate their data gathering and analysis expertise including quantitative data analysis techniques. They should be able to demonstrate their commitment to high-quality research. The candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment both independently and within a team. The candidate should have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and an eye for detail.
