Radical Death

The Radical Death project is a collaboration between a number of different institutions and researchers.

At Ege University in Izmir, Turkey, Professor Haluk Sağlamtimur is director of excavations at Başur Höyük and the Ilisu Rescue Archaeology Project.

At the Univeristy of Georgia, Athens, Dr Suzanne Pilaar Birch leads the stable isotope analysis research strand of the project.

At the Natural History Museum, London, Professor Ian Barnes and Dr Selina Brace lead the ancient DNA research strand of the project.

Dr Veysel Apaydin of UCL and the University of York leads the Heritage Engagement Strategy aspect of the project.

At UCL, Professor David Wengrow and Dr Brenna Hassett coordinate the project and lead on the archaeological and bioarchaeological interpretation of evidence of radical death practices at the turn of the 4th millenium.
