TITLE: Quantum Industry Talks - Quantum Computing Applications

ABSTRACT

Join Peter Mountney, Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at UCL and UCLQ Honorary Research Fellow, for a series of talks on the latest industry-led developments and advances in quantum technology.

You can watch our previous talks on YouTube.

Aimed at those in research and working in the quantum sector, these short talks delivered by industry players from IBM, Microsoft, Volkswagen, BT, and others, will explore different quantum sectors including: computing hardware, computing software, computing applications, security and sensing.

In this session learn about the applications of quantum computing at JPMorgan Chase and Volkswagen:

Marco Pistoia

Head of Research and Engineering at JPMorgan Chase

Marco is a Managing Director, Head of Research and Engineering, and Head of Quantum Computing at JPMorgan Chase. Formerly, he was a Senior Manager, Distinguished Research Staff Member and Master Inventor at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Centre in New York, where he led the research group responsible for Quantum Computing Algorithms and Applications. He is the inventor of 226 US patents, granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office, and over 200 patent-pending patent applications, 30 of which are in the field of Quantum Computing. Dr. Pistoia received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from New York University in 2005. He has written over 70 scholarly articles on various aspects of Program Analysis, Language-Based Security, and Quantum Computing.

Sheir Yarkoni

Researcher at Volkswagen

Sheir Yarkoni is a quantum computing researcher at the Volkswagen Data:Lab in Munich. Before joining Volkswagen, he worked for D-Wave Systems with a focus on benchmarking quantum processors for industry applications. He recently completed his PhD at Leiden University in hybrid quantum-classical algorithms for applications at Volkswagen.
