Research Interests
My research focuses on advancing electron spin resonance (ESR) instrumentation by leveraging high-Q superconducting resonator circuits to perform highly sensitive ESR measurements in novel electronic materials. I also investigate the quantum behavior of magnons in van der Waals 2D layered ferromagnets by achieving strong quantum coupling between
magnons and microwave photons generated from the superconducting resonators.
My current research is connected to Electron Spin Resonance (ESR), using a single microwave photon detector (SMPD) to achieve superior resolution. The most exciting part is the incredible technology I’m using: the SMPD, which has record levels of sensitivity for ESR; fabricating superconducting micro-resonators in the cleanroom; and working with dilution fridges, which reach some of the coldest temperatures in the known universe! It’s still early days in my career, and I’m really looking forward to applying all of this to the interdisciplinary research undertaken in this group!
Interesting fact
I have hiked through all of the national parks in the UK.
