Co-Production Collective

We are a co-production community where everyone is welcome. Together we learn, connect, and champion co-production for lasting change.

About us

To us, co-production 'is an approach to working together in equal partnership for equal benefit.' Our vision is a world where diverse knowledge and experience is recognised and valued in the co-production of research, services and policy development.’ We are dedicated to learning about and sharing knowledge and practice of co-production in the pursuit of positive change.

We support co-production projects and enable others to co-produce, bring people together to share learning and ideas, and build evidence and influence to make the case for and develop the practice of co-production.

We provide consultancy, deliver training and presentations, and participate in the design and implementation of research projects, all with our community members involved.

We also work hard at practicing what we preach and co-produce ourselves. This means our policies, practices, priorities and plans are shaped by our community for our own benefit but also as an example of co-production for others to learn from.

How did we get here?

In 2017, a group got together with an idea: to co-create a centre to support co-production in health research, innovation and practice. Funded by the Wellcome Trust and supported by UCL, we were originally known as the UCL Centre for Co-production.

From 2018 – 2020, we funded two phases of co-production pilot projects with teams working on research or innovation projects. Our aim at that time in running the pilots was to test and learn more about co-production in practice. Find out more about the pilot projects.

Hundreds of co-producers joined our community and got involved in these projects and other co-production opportunities, learning by co-producing together. In October 2020 we officially launched as Co-Production Collective! (If you're interested in finding out more about where we've come from, explore the blogs from our time as UCL Centre for Co-Production and read our Co-Production Pilots report.)

Since then, we have expanded what we do to support and embed co-production in a wide range of sectors including universities, charities, funders, NHS bodies, local authorities, housing associations and grassroots groups.
