A conference to celebrate the publication of the Complete Works
Abstract
The extraordinary and challenging writings of W. R. Bion creatively transformed the field of psychoanalysis. Even today their impact is being assimilated and digested, a process which will be greatly facilitated by the publication of his complete works. This conference celebrates the publication of Chris Mawson's monumental sixteen-volume edition of Bion's Complete Works, which will smooth the path for future readers to produce their own transformations. Ron Britton, Irma Brenman Pick, Antonino Ferro, David Tuckett and Rudi Vermote will offer unique perspectives on Bion's remarkable work. Understanding Bion through the eyes of major contemporary contributors is perhaps the most effective way of appreciating his seminal contribution. Chris Mawson will discuss aspects of his encounter with Bion in the process of editing the Complete Works in conversation with Peter Fonagy.
