Primrose-A: Implementation in Camden 2019-22
Primrose was adapted to become Primrose-A. Primrose-A was co-produced with people with lived experience and includes peer coaches to deliver the intervention. It includes a focus on relevant cardiovascular disease medications and interventions and also recovery goals.
Camden Clinical Commissioning Group, MIND and C&I gained funding from Health Education England to deliver Primrose-A within a cluster of Camden practices 2019-20. This continued through Covid.
There was a qualitative evaluation element to PRIMROSE-A including an NIHR ARC North Thames multimorbidity theme project. The published paper can be read here: An integrated primary care service to reduce cardiovascular disease risk in people with severe mental illness: Primrose-A - thematic analysis of its acceptability, feasibility, and implementation.
In November 2020, Camden NHS colleagues and MIND received further Health Education England funding to roll out the PRIMROSE-A model across North Central London (5 inner London Boroughs)
An adapted version of Primrose is also being trialled in Australia by colleagues in Melbourne.
