The UCL Division of Psychiatry is a world-leading interdisciplinary centre for research and teaching into mental health and illness. UCL is the top-ranked university in the UK for research power in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience according to the UK’s Research Excellence Framework 2021 and we deliver innovative teaching, relevant to clinical practice, that is informed by our research.

Our two main MScs are the Clinical Mental Health Sciences MSc (for psychologists and others with relevant degrees who would like to develop their evidence-based understanding of mental health conditions and their treatments, and of how to do research in this area) and the Mental Health Sciences Research MSc (mainly for mental health clinicians who wish to develop as clinical researchers). They attract large numbers of applicants each year and are very well-regarded as stimulating and rigorous cross-disciplinary trainings. Many of our alumni go on (often after gaining further relevant experience) to PhD or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology studies, as well as to a range of posts in mental health care and mental health research .

In this session, members of the MSc teaching team will discuss the course structure, modules, career outcomes and life as a student in the department, UCL and London more widely. We will introduce some of our alumni, including both clinicians and non-clinicians who have undertaken the course. The team and our students will be able to answer your questions, allowing you to decide whether this is the course for you.
