Welcome to the Division of Psychiatry EDI talk for International Women's Day! Join us at Bentham House for an inspiring talk from Dr Philippa Greenfield, Consultant Psychiatrist, Joint Presidential Lead for Women’s Mental Health in the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Trauma Informed Lead for NHS England’s National Culture of Care Programme.
Location: LG11 lecture theatre in Bentham House, UCL.
Dr Greenfield will discuss what we know about the needs of women who access mental health services, including high levels of domestic abuse, experiences of sexual violence, homelessness and poverty, and intersectionality of protected characteristics. She will consider the current challenges and barriers for women accessing care in the current mental health system and how different care approaches and workforce training could help improve some of the adverse mental health outcomes and suicide for women. The talk will reflect Dr Greenfield’s perspective as the Joint Presidential Lead for Women’s Mental Health in the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Trauma Informed Lead for NHS England’s National Culture of Care Programme, and highlight what academics could do to advance research in women’s mental health.
The seminar will be followed by a drinks reception in Keeton Room (ground floor of Bentham House). See you there!
