Title: The relationship between alcohol use and suicidal behaviours
Internal examiner: Dr Andrew McQuillin, UCL Division of Psychiatry
Chair: Dr Alexandra Pitman, UCL Division of Psychiatry
This will be a 45 minute upgrade presentation to describe the findings of an analysis of Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey data to explore the association between alcohol use (using the AUDIT score as a continuous measure, and exploring different dimensions of alcohol misuse such as volume, frequency, consequences, etc) and suicidal ideation and suicide attempt. We would value your thoughts on how to disseminate the public health messages of this research, and on the implications for the next phase of her PhD.
