 Abstract:

Research in the past fifteen years have shown that inflammation is associated to major depression, but whether inflammation is involved in the response to antidepressant treatment is yet debatable. Moreover, critical to the development of new anti-cytokine treatment for depression is the selection of a biomarker(s) for inflammation-associated refractory depression; and the understanding of inflammation associated molecular targets of effective treatment for depression. In this talk, I will present data on new biomarker for refractory depression, discuss whether inflammation is involved on the mode of action of antidepressants and give future directions.
