 Eleanor Yelland

My research focuses on language use in text-based online cognitive behavioural therapy and methods in which this can be studied. I am looking to determine whether there are certain aspects of language use throughout treatment that can inform us on the progress a patient is making, their likelihood of dropping out of treatment and their potential for recovery. For this project, I have access to a corpus of therapy transcripts from CBT carried out over the internet on a purpose-designed instant messaging platform and specialist text mining software to assist the linguistic analysis.
