Research Interests

People with dementia experience physical symptoms such as pain or breathlessness, which may benefit from a palliative care approach. Yet patients with dementia are less likely to be referred to palliative care services than other groups. The aim of my research is to identify the level of palliative care needs amongst those with YOD and to examine how the needs of YOD patients could be met within existing services.

This research proposal is part of the EMBED-Care project and coincides with the requirements of workstream three which will investigate the unmet needs of those with dementia and their association with comfort, quality of life, service utilization, care transitions, carer experiences and costs, including novel work on young onset and prion dementias.

My primary supervisor is Professor Liz Sampson and my secondary supervisor is Professor Jason Warren.
