Vice-Provost (Faculties)

The Vice-Provost (Faculties) and team have responsibility for the alignment of the eleven faculties – and UCL East – with UCL institutional strategy.

About the role

Anthony Smith is UCL’s first Vice-Provost (Faculties). He chairs the University Management Committee and has responsibility for the Deans of UCL’s eleven faculties and Pro-Provost (UCL East). 

About Anthony Smith

Prior to the appointment to his current role in 2021, Professor Smith served as Vice-Provost (Education and Student Affairs) for nine years, taking the strategic lead for all matters related to education and the wider student experience. Before joining UCL, he was Principal and Dean of the School of Pharmacy, University of London. He was educated at the University of Bath where he obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy and PhD degrees.  

He is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. He is Chair of Trustees at UCL Academy and a Governor of the Capital City Colleges Group. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
