Confirming your place at UCL

What is the deadline for accepting my offer?
  • If you made an on-time application by 29 January 2025, the reply deadline is 4 June 2025.
  • If you received your last decision on or before 14 May 2025, your reply date is 4 June 2025 (except if you are using Extra to find a place).
  • If you receive your last decision on or before 17 July 2025, your reply date is 23 July 2025 (including Extra choices).
I've received my IB Diploma results. When will my place at UCL be confirmed?

Some students may not hear back until A level results day (14 August 2025) for students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. If your UCAS Track has not changed, then it is likely that the Admissions Selectors are awaiting all results to make a final decision on all applications.

I've received my Scottish Higher results. When will my place at UCL be confirmed?

Some students may not hear back until A level results day (14 August 2025) for students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. If your UCAS Track has not changed, then it is likely that the Admissions Selectors are awaiting all results to make a final decision on all applications.

What is the deadline for meeting the conditions of my offer?

All  conditions (academic and/or English Language) must be met by 17:00 (UK time), 31 August 2025, .   This applies to offers for entry in September 2025 and deferred entry in September 2026.

I didn't meet my offer conditions but I am getting a remark/appealing my calculated results with examination board(s), do I need to let UCL know?

If you meet or exceed your offer conditions in full as a result of a remark or appeal then please contact us. Your revised grades should come through to us from UCAS.

Please remember that we will need to have received official confirmation from the awarding body of your new grade(s) by 17:00 (UK time), 31 August 2025. We will not consider informal submissions from individuals or schools.

Please note the original decision will remain on your application until we have received official confirmation of the new grades.

If you do receive an appeal outcome after 31 August 2025 (and no later than 1 October 2025) that meets your UCL offer conditions, then we may be able to consider you for deferred place.

I want to drop one of my A level subjects, will that affect my offer?

You must be able to meet all the conditions of your offer with the remaining subjects. If the subject you wish to drop is not stated in your offer conditions, or a requirement of the programme, dropping the subject should not typically affect your offer.

Please contact us with:
•    Your full name
•    Your UCAS ID number
•    Your UCL student number
•    The name of the programme you have applied to
•    Which subject and qualification you are no longer taking

I am taking more than 3 A Levels subjects and want to drop one, will that affect my offer?

You must be able to meet all the conditions of your offer with the remaining subjects. If the subject you wish to drop is not stated in your offer conditions, or a requirement of the programme, dropping the subject should not typically affect your offer.

Please contact us with:

  • Your full name
  • Your UCAS ID number
  • Your UCL student number
  • The name of the programme you have applied to
  • Which subject and qualification you are no longer taking
If I narrowly miss the conditions of my offer, can I still get a place?

The only way to guarantee your place at UCL is to meet the conditions of your offer in full. That being said, on occasion, we may be able to consider candidates who have narrowly missed the conditions of their offer. Unfortunately, we will not be able to give you a decision either way at this time. Your application may remain on hold until A Level results day on 14th August, at which stage we will be able to give you a final decision via UCAS Track.

Deferring entry

I would like to defer entry to September 2026. How can I do this and is there a deadline?

UCL tries to facilitate deferral requests wherever possible. Please contact us with a written request through the contact form including the following details:

  • your full name
  • the programme you applied for
  • a brief outline of the reasons for your deferral request

Requests for most programmes are approved if received by 1 October 2025.

Deferrals for Slade School of Fine Art are not possible, and you must reapply through UCAS for the next September entry.

You can only defer your application once. If you have already submitted a deferred application through UCAS, you will not be allowed to defer again.

If your country requires you to take part in national military service, please contact us

Any English language tests must be taken within two years of the proposed start date of your programme. If your test is older than this at the deferred start date, you must take a new English language test before we can defer your application.

If you have been issued a CAS number, we will need to withdraw your CAS before deferring your application. You will receive a new CAS number the following summer.

Do I still need to meet the conditions of my offer if I choose to defer entry to September 2026?

Yes, all conditions specified in your offer of admission must still be met by 17:00, (UK time) 31 August 2025.

Can I cancel my deferral and attend this year?

This may be possible. To find out, please contact us with:

  • Your full name
  • Your UCAS ID number
  • Your UCL Student number
  • The name of the programme you have applied to
  • Your confirmation that you wish to cancel your deferral

The admissions team will review your request and confirm whether it is possible to cancel your deferral.

English language requirement

Will UCL be offering Pre-sessional English courses this summer?

Yes, we are pleased to be offering online Pre-sessional English courses in 2025. For up-to-date information on the courses offered, and applications, please see our Pre-sessional English Courses page.

What do I do if English Language is a condition of my UCL offer?

If you are not a national of a majority English-speaking country, you must be able to provide recent evidence that your English is adequate for the programme for which you have applied.

Please note English Language offer conditions, must be met by 17:00 (UK time), 31 August 2025.

I think my fee status is incorrect on my undergraduate offer letter, what can I do?

  • Your full name
  • Your UCAS ID number
  • Your UCL student number
  • The name of the programme you have applied to
  • Your request for a fee status questionnaire

We will then send you a fee status questionnaire to fill out and return to us, asking for more information about your individual situation. You will need to upload this form and any supporting documentation to your Portico.

Once received, we will contact you directly regarding the outcome of the fee status questionnaire.

Visa and Immigration

I need a Student visa to study in the UK. When will I receive my CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies)?

You will be invited from June 2025 to check your details on Portico (the UCL applicant portal), which will be used to generate your CAS. Your CAS will only be issued to you once your offer status has been updated to Unconditional Firm and your qualifications have been verified.

We do like to remind all international offer holders that we are unable to expedite CAS numbers and as such we strongly encourage offer holders not to book visa appointments or flights until they have received their CAS number.

Please ensure your Student Visa information is up to date on Portico (UCL’s applicant portal). Please note if you need to update your name, date of birth, passport details or nationality, you will need to contact UCAS. Any changes made through UCAS will automatically update your UCL application within 24 to 48 hours.

Once your details have been updated you can then confirm they are correct on Portico.

You do not need to send us any further information (e.g. a scan of your passport) unless your details change after a CAS number has been issued to you.

Will the two-year post-study work visa be in effect next year? (Graduate Immigration Route)

Please refer to the information on our website

My CAS has been issued but I want a CAS letter emailed to me, can you provide this?

You can print the CAS statement from the Applicant Portal for your own records if you wish to do so by selecting “Print”.  The visa application only requires you to input the CAS number (please copy and paste this directly in to avoid making any mistakes).

Can you provide Unconditional Offer Letters for Visa or sponsorship purposes?

We do not usually issue undergraduate unconditional offer letters as your applicant status is available on both UCAS and the UCL Applicant Portal. However, if you require a letter outlining your application status to support a non-Student visa application or sponsorship please get in touch via our contact form.

Where UCL is sponsoring a Student visa for a new student, the CAS can be used as an alternative since it contains applicant and course details. The CAS also confirms that the new student has met the conditions of their offer.

I need immigration advice, can you help me?

Please contact the UCL Immigration Advice team for help with immigration or visas.

When and how will I hear about my accommodation allocation?

Allocations will be generated between April and August. Not all allocations will be generated at once, so please be patient and bear with us.

New Undergraduate applicants holding a conditional or unconditional offer to study, who meet the eligibility criteria for a prioritised place, will be allocated during this timeframe.

Do you offer accommodation for students with families?

UCL has limited family accommodation for students that would like to live with partners and/ or children. Please note that UCL cannot guarantee accommodation for students that require family or couple accommodation. Details of private providers who offer accommodation for families and couples can be found on our Alternative Accommodation for Students webpage

Do you offer accommodation for students with additional needs?

Yes, we welcome and support applications from students with additional requirements. As a part of the accommodation application process, you can provide information about your room requirements. You will be able to upload the necessary supporting documents under the ‘Additional Requirements’ section on the UCL Accommodation Portal.

Do you offer accommodation beyond the first year to care leavers?

Yes, UCL will provide 365-day accommodation for care experienced students in their first year, and, if needed, for subsequent years of study. Further information can be found on the students with additional requirements webpage.

If you need 365-day accommodation, and/or accommodation beyond your first year at UCL, you will need to apply for a place in the usual way via the UCL Accommodation Portal when applications are open. Does UCL provide an airport pickup service?

Pre-enrolment and Enrolment

What is pre-enrolment?

Pre-enrolment allows you to confirm that the information we hold about you and your programme is correct. This includes your personal details and information about your programme itself and your fees.

If everything is correct, you’ll also have a chance to pay your fees online (or confirm sponsorship if applicable).

You can easily complete pre-enrolment online on your phone or laptop – it only takes a few minutes to complete.

As part of pre-enrolment, you’ll also be asked to accept a number of academic and financial regulations, data protection statements, and to confirm your membership with Students’ Union UCL.

When do I complete pre-enrolment?

When pre-enrolment is available for your programme, you’ll receive an invitation email with a link for you to start the process.

This email can only be sent once you've accepted your offer and met any conditions. For further information about the pre-enrolment process, please see our Pre-enrolment website.

When is the deadline for enrolment?
