Use our checklist to ensure you are ready for your journey to the UK and fully prepared for your stay in London.
Before you arrive
Apply for a visa (if you need one)
If you are unsure if you need a visa, please check your visa status here
Plan your journey to your accommodation
Arrange travel and medical insurance
If you need to bring medication make sure you have a doctor’s note translated into English to accompany it
Book Social and Cultural Programme events (optional)
Complete pre-enrolment (you will receive an email when this is available. As mentioned, this will be approximately two weeks before the start of the programme)
Check for any restrictions on the amount of money you can take out of your country and any restrictions on goods that can be bought into the UK
Packing your hand luggage
Valuables (phone, wallet, etc.)
Passport (containing visa if applicable)
UCL Confirmation Letter
Financial evidence
Address of UK accommodation
Tickets/Online flight booking
UK pound sterling for any initial costs (taxi fares, food, etc.)
Clothing (a jumper, waterproof jacket, etc.)
Packing your hold luggage
Label your luggage with your details in English
Check your luggage allowance (exceeding this could be extremely costly)
Photocopies of all your important documents (passport, visa, etc.) and passport photos
Clothes – British weather can be extremely unpredictable, make sure you pack items suitable for all seasons
Travel mug, cutlery and plate or bowl
Why not bring photographs of loved ones and reminders of home - they are a great way to brighten up your room and help you feel settled
Electrical items, including a travel adaptor
