Why study Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at UCL?

We provide a dynamic and innovative undergraduate civil engineering programme and postgraduate specialist programmes to develop your professional career in engineering science. Our courses encompass the full spectrum of civil engineering from structures and geomatics to earthquakes and transport, while continuing to provide a sound understanding of civil engineering principles.

What you will gain from study at UCL

We aim to produce world-leading engineers with both the skills to make the world better, and the technical ability to design complex civil engineering solutions with people and the environment in mind. You will have the chance to specialise in a range of core and advanced topics, such as Structural Dynamics, Water and Wastewater Treatment or Coastal Engineering.

Teaching and assessment

Teaching is by lectures, laboratory classes, tutorials, seminars and field trips. Assessment is by examination or coursework and alternative assessment is available for term-only students.

Modules in Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering

Please note that this guide lists a range of popular modules offered as a representative sample. It is not exhaustive and, since the guide is published ahead of time, module options may have changed, been deleted or replaced. If you have very specific study needs or require confirmation of module availability for 2024/25, you are strongly advised to get in touch with the relevant Affiliate contact, listed on this subject page, before making an application.

Modules run either for Term 1 (Fall Term), Term 2 (Spring Term) or over the full year (Fall and Spring Terms). Note that full year modules cannot be separated into term components therefore are only available to students on one-year exchange. Spring and Fall Term modules are only offered once, in the term specified.
