Why study Archaeology at UCL?

The UCL Institute of Archaeology is one of the world’s largest and most eminent centres for archaeology, with over 70 staff conducting research across the globe. The institute houses a famous archaeological library of c. 80,000 volumes, as well as extensive laboratory facilities and teaching collections. You will gain a truly international perspective on archaeology through close interaction with leading researchers from around the world. We offer a uniquely wide range of specialist options, taught in small groups that encourage discussion and hands-on experience.

Teaching and assessment

Teaching methods include lectures, discussions, and practical/laboratory classes. Most assessment is by coursework (essays), but some modules also include an examination. Alternative arrangements are made as needed. Please note that some options are offered on a biennial basis and all run subject to sufficient enrolment.
