Before Applying | |
When do applications open? | For September entry the application portal will open in February. The application deadline is 31st March.
For January entry the application portal will open in August. The application deadline is 30th September.
Information on how to apply is available here.
UCL has a limited number of places available, we therefore encourage you to apply as soon as possible and ideally by the application deadline. |
The application deadline has passed, can I still apply? | Some programmes may stay open for late applications. You should check our application portal , if the programme is showing as available to apply, then you may submit a late application.
Priority will be given to applications that are submitted on time. Applications submitted after the deadline may not receive the same equal consideration.
|
Do I need to have met the English Language requirements before applying? | No, you do not need to have met the English Language requirements before applying. If your application is successful, you will receive a conditional offer that will include a requirement to meet the level of English required for your programme. You will be required to satisfy this condition by the deadline stated in your offer letter.
UCL will only accept English tests that are included on our website. No other English Language tests will be considered.
|
Which department should I apply to?
| We expect applicants to have had some academic experience in the subject they apply to. You must meet any subject specific requirements as listed on the Study Abroad Guide.
You must ensure that your programme is open for the term(s) that you wish to apply for. If you are applying as an Exchange or Erasmus applicant, you must make sure the programme you are applying to is covered by the agreement between UCL and your University.
|
Can I apply to more than one department?
| You should apply to one department only. If your application is unsuccessful, you may be invited to submit an application for an alternative programme, subject to availability. Affiliate students may typically take up to 50% of their modules (courses) from outside of their host department. However, this cannot be guaranteed until enrolment, and is subject to availability and meeting any prerequisites.
|
What academic requirements do I need to meet in order to apply?
| Each programme has their own entry requirements. Please review your course page. Each course page includes the GPA, English Language, and subject requirements. You must have completed at least 2 years of study at your home university before your start date at UCL. If you are applying from Australia or New Zealand, you must have completed at least 1.5 years of study at your home university before your start date at UCL. |
Can I apply with a lower GPA?
| We may consider applications with a GPA that is lower than advertised. Applications that do not meet the entry requirements will be reviewed by the academic department on a case-by-case basis.
|
Where can I find out more information about modules and classes? | An indication of the available modules and subjects can be found on our Subject webpage. If you have very specific study needs or require confirmation of module availability, you are strongly advised to get in touch with your departmental Affiliate contact.
If you have any further questions on the modules or course contents, we recommend contacting the academic department. Contact details for each Affiliate department can be found on our Affiliate Departmental Information webpage.
|

| Yes, UCL accepts applications from independent / free movers. However, there may be some restrictions on which departments you can apply to. Some of our departments can only accept applicants from our reciprocal partnership universities. Please see our website to review your study options
Please be aware, students applying independently will be required to pay tuition fees. Fee information can be found on our website.
|

The entry point available for each programme is available on the subject pages.
