The Keith Wightman Scholarship

The aim of the scholarship is to enable and encourage first-year UCL students who show excellence in the sport of golf to pursue their interest.

UCL normally offers one scholarship each session.

Eligibility requirements

Eligible candidates will:

  • be a student from any country;
  • have successfully completed the first year of their undergraduate degree studies in any subject at UCL;
  • show an excellence in golf and academics.

Selection criteria

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic and golfing excellence (preference will be given to students with a handicap of five or less, and/or category 1 golfers).

If there are no qualified candidates meeting this criteria in any given year, the scholarship may be awarded to another sportsperson who has shown excellence in his or her chosen sport. Financial need will also be taken into consideration.

The scholarship will be awarded by the Council upon the recommendation of a selection panel made up of UCL staff and appropriate golf and sport officials at the UCL Union (e.g. President of the UCL Union Golf Society and the UCL Union Activities Officer).

Value: benefits and duration

The value of the scholarship is £3,500 paid equally over two academic years. The scholarship is tenable for two years only.

Application procedure and deadline

The deadline for your application is Monday, 13 August 2018 at 5pm. Applications and supporting documents specified in the form must be received before the deadline to be considered valid.  

Complete applications and supporting documentations should be submitted by email to the Student Funding Office.

Notification of results

Successful applicants and reserve candidates can expect to be notified by email in September/October.
