Information for Prospective Students
UCL Community Contribution Awards
|Important Information for all Applicants|
The UCL Community Contribution Awards, funded by Santander Universities, aim to foster the notion of UCL as a community. These awards seek to highlight, celebrate and reward outstanding achievement, endeavour or contribution by current UCL students in a non-academic area.
Up to ten awards are available.
Awards are allocated to individuals who have shown outstanding achievement and endeavour in, or contribution to, a non-academic field relating to UCL as a community and/or the wider community. Activities might be in areas such as music, theatre, fundraising, volunteering, sport, mentoring and so on. Students who have undertaken important selfless acts in their home or personal lives such as carers etc., which contribute to society in various important ways, can also be nominated.
For examples of past winners, please view our past winner’s stories.
Successful nominees will be asked to co-operate in any publicity activity which UCL or Santander Universities may wish to attach to the award.
- Nominees must be current UCL students, enrolled for study or research at any level.
- Nominations may relate to activities or achievements in the current or the previous academic year provided the student was enrolled at UCL at the relevant time.
- Awards are open only to individual students – a group of students therefore may not be nominated for an award.
Each award consists of a donation of £1,000 on behalf of the selected student to a single organisation outside UCL of the award-holder’s choice, preferably a registered charity which is related to the activity which they have been awarded this prize for.
The organisations to which the award may be donated should not be party political, and must be an organisation outside UCL; the award may not be donated to an individual.
Application Procedure and Deadline
Candidates may be nominated by a UCL student or staff member
by submitting the UCL Community Contribution Nomination Form to UCL
Student Funding. Students cannot nominate themselves.
The deadline for your application is: Monday 1st June 2015 at 5pm. If a nomation is received after this deadline it will not be
deemed eligible and cannot be considered.

Selection and Notification of Results
A selection panel consisting of UCL staff, a representative of UCLU, a past award recipient and a Santander representative will consider all nominations received and identify up to 10 students to receive an award.
Successful candidates can expect to be notified in early July, and will be asked to indicate which organisation they wish to benefit from the £1,000 donation.
