Information for Prospective Students
Andrew Szmidla Postgraduate Scholarship
The aim of the Andrew Szmidla Postgraduate Scholarship is to enable and encourage academically able students from Poland to pursue their postgraduate studies at UCL. Up to three scholarships are available for the 2014/15 academic session.
Applicants for the Scholarship must:
- be ordinarily resident in Poland;
- have applied by the date of the scholarship application deadline to study a full-time Master's degree at UCL in 2014/15.
The criteria for awarding the scholarship is academic excellence and financial need.
Value: Benefits and Duration
The successful recipient will be awarded £10,000 for one academic year only which may be applied directly to tuition fees or paid in three equal instalments throughout the academic year towards maintenance.
Application Deadline and Procedure
The deadline for applications is: Monday, 17 March 2014.

Potential candidates must ensure that they submit a full scholarship application by the deadline irrespective of whether an offer of admission has reached them or not. After the deadline the UCL Student Funding Office will check UCL systems to confirm whether the scholarship applicant has applied for admission to one of the eligible UCL programmes. Scholarships applicants without an application for admission to an eligible programme at the time of the scholarship deadline will be excluded from the competition at this point.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Selection and Notification of Results
The scholarship will be awarded by recommendation of a panel comprised of members of UCL academic and Student Funding Office staff.
The successful candidate will be notified in June once a decision has been made.
