Our Economics and Business programmes offer you a chance to study emerging economies through the lens of the SSEES region, but also draw upon knowledge from other emerging markets such as Asia and Latin America. Our degree programmes offer flexibility in module choices and also provide you with a chance to learn a language of the region. SSEES leads the Centre for Comparative Studies of Emerging Economies which provides research and insight into areas such as institutions, innovation, and growth; financial markets, banking and financial fragility; Social exclusion, political participation and migration; Natural resources, energy, and security and Statistics, in particular for the CEE region.

Our academic staff research a broad range of issues and we have expertise in areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, political economy, finance and economic growth. Being part of the multidisciplinary environment that SSEES provides means not only will you acquire knowledge of the economies of the CEE region, but also understand the history, politics and culture that shape them. We also play host to the EBRD (Economic Bank for Reconstruction and Development) report each year, one of many collaborations that the School benefits from.
